Nitrofurantoin tablets

Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic, which is used in treatments of urinary tract infection. This medication is sold under various brand names, including Furadantin, Macrobid, Macrodantin, Nitrofur Mac, Nitro Macro, Nifty-SR, and Martifur-MR, and the Nitrofurantoin tablets are available at 50mg and 100mg strength. The normal adult course includes taking four 50mg or 100mg per day for a week, but your doctor might prescribe differently.

Take the Nitrofurantoin tablets exactly as your doctor has prescribed. Do not skip a dose and do not discontinue the treatment before peaking to your healthcare provider; untimely discontinuation of the treatment could result in the development of drug resistant bacteria. Take the Nitrofurantoin tablets always with a meal in order to reduce the chances of some adverse reactions.

Nitrofurantoin tablets side effects: most patients take the Nitrofurantoin (generic Furadantin) tablets with no serious side effects, but nausea, vomiting, rash, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, and fever are possible. The medication should not be administered to babies, younger than one month or to pregnant women, pass the 38th week of pregnancy since it could cause haemolytic anaemia.

Nitrofurantoin tablets missed dose: take the Nitrofurantoin as your healthcare provider directed and if you miss a dose, take one as soon as you remember.

Store the Nitrofurantoin tablets in their original, closed container, away from the reach of children. Dispose of the expired and unused tablets in a responsible manner!
